Agents - Out of Band Fabric

Use this window to view information about Out of Band Fabric agents, including status of the agent, the IP address and host name of the host machine, and the HBAs associated with this agent..

State

The status of the agent.

Host name

Host name of the machine on which an agent is installed.

IP Address

IP address of the machine on which an agent is installed.

SNMP Community

The name of the SNMP community that the agent belongs to. This field is optional. The SNMP community name acts as a password that is shared by one or more SNMP hosts. The community name is used to authenticate messages being received by this SNMP host.

Note: the default SNMP community is public. If this is not the correct community name for your environment, the out of band agent might not be able to properly perform scans.

Adding an Out of Band agent

To add an Out of Band Fabric agent:

  1. Expand Administrative Services > Agents in the navigation tree.
  2. Left click the Out of Band Fabric node.
  3. Click Add in the content pane.
  4. Complete the fields on the Add Out of Band Fabric Agent window and click OK.

Performing actions against Out of Band Fabric agents

You can perform a number of administrative actions against the agents listed under the node. Different actions are available for each agent depending on its status. To perform actions against an agent:

  1. Expand Administrative Services > Agents in the navigation tree.
  2. Left click the Out of Band Fabric node.
  3. Select an agent by clicking on its row.
  4. Click any of the following buttons to perform actions against the agent:

Setting the refresh rate

You can set the rate at which the data in the table is updated. To do this, click the down arrow in the Refresh Rate field and select a different value. All values in the list represent minutes
