Configuration - Alert Disposition

Use this window to specify control information that is used to generate alerts when a corresponding event is discovered. You can specify default configuration settings for both SNMP and email-directed alerts.

Field Descriptions

SNMP Sections

There are two sets of SNMP destination prompts. You must provide at least one destination. Both SNMP Destination 1 and SNMP Destination 2 sections display the following fields:

Description

Community

Specify the name of the SNMP community for sending SNMP traps.

Send Traps to:

Host

Specify the name of the Host machine within your environment that you have configured to receive SNMP traps.

Port

Specify the Port number to use when sending SNMP traps. If this field is left blank, the application will use standard port 162 and Public, respectively.

Email Section

Field Name	Description
Mail Server	Specify the name of the mail server to use within your environment.
Mail Port	Specify the port number for the outgoing mail (SMTP) server. This port number is usually 25.
Default Domain	Specify the default domain to use for sending email (for example, your_company_name.com).
Return To	Specify the email address to use if an email is undeliverable.
Reply To	Specify the email address where a reply is sent if a user replies to an email triggered by an alert. Note: We recommend you define the email address of the Aperi Storage Manager administrator in this field.

Alert Log Disposition

Field Name	Description
Delete Alert Log Records older than ___ days	Specify the number of days after which records in the alert log are deleted.
