Configuring NAS and NetWare Servers
Aperi Storage Manager provides two methods for configuring NAS filers for monitoring:
- Manual Entry of NAS filer information
- Automatic discovery of NAS filer information
Manual Entry of NAS Filer Information
Use the Manual NAS Entry window to enter
NAS filer information. This procedure is recommended if you want to add only
a few filers at a time.
- Access the Manual NAS Entry window and
choose to add a NAS filer.
- Enter information about the NAS filer and
click OK.
- Assign an agent to each of the filesystems in your NAS filer.
You are not required to perform any licensing or discovery actions during the process.
Automatic Discovery of NAS Filer Information
Run an automatic discovery and perform licensing tasks to add NAS filers for
monitoring. This procedure is recommended for adding multiple filers at the
same time.
- Enter configuration information for your NAS filers on the NAS Discovery
Parameters window that appears during the installation process. After you
complete the installation process, agents perform an initial discovery of
the NAS filers in the domain (Windows) or the filers for which they have an
import (UNIX).
- (optional) Set the ID and password for NAS filers that require a different
login ID and password than the default one you provided during the installation
process. You must manually run a discovery job against those filers.
- Assign licenses to: the agents that will monitor NAS filers and to the NAS
filers themselves.
- Assign an agent to each of the filesystems in your NAS filers.
