Administrative Services - Discovery

Use the Administrative Services > Discovery node to define new discovery jobs and view existing discovery jobs. Use discovery jobs to find new CIMOMs, Out of Band Fabrics, Windows Domains, and NAS filers that have been introduced into your environment.

You can create and edit discovery jobs by clicking on the following subnodes:

• CIMOM
• Out of Band Fabric
• NetWare Filer
• Windows Domain, NAS, and SAN FS

When you click a job node, the following tabs might appear depending on the type of job that was clicked: When to Run, Alert, Options (CIMOM), Options (Out of Band Fabric), and Options (Windows Domain and NAS filers)

Viewing the runs of discovery jobs

Every time a discovery job runs an entry is added beneath the node to which it corresponds. For example, if a CIMOM discovery runs, an entry for that run is added as a subnode to the CIMOM node. Expand a main discovery node (CIMOM, Out of Band Fabric, and Windows Domain and NAS) to view the runs associated with that job.

A status indicator appears beside the runs listed under each of the discovery nodes:

Status Indicator	Description
	indicates that the job run completed successfully.
	indicates that the job completed with warning messages.
	indicates that the job encountered errors during its run and failed.
	indicates that the job is currently running.

Performing actions against a discovery node

You can perform a number of administrative actions against a discovery node. To perform actions against a node:

1. Expand Administrative Services > Discovery in the navigation tree.
2. Right-click on a main discovery job (CIMOM, Out of Band Fabric, and Windows Domain and NAS).
3. Select an action from the pop-up menu to perform against the service:
   • Refresh Job List - update the list of runs that appears below the associated node.
   • Update Job Status - update the visual indicators that appear beside job runs.
   • History
   • Run Now - run the discovery job immediately.
