Services - Data Server

Use the options in the Services > Data Server node to view and control the various services that run in the server component. When you expand the Data Server node, five nodes appear which represent the running services within the server. Select any of the following nodes to display information on the server identification, run time statistics, requests processed, database information, and agent statistics:

• Server - The component that directs all the operations of Data Manager.
• Scheduler - The process on the server that receives requests from the scheduler.
• GUI - The process within the GUI that enables you to generate report requests and create/run jobs.
• Agent - The process on the server that receives requests from agents.

Viewing Service Status

Each of the nodes includes a visual indicator of the service status beside it, where:

- represents an active session that is operating normally

- represents a session that is currently not active

Administering Services

You can perform a number of administrative actions against services. To perform actions against a service:

• 1. Expand Services > Data Server in the navigation tree.
• 2. Right-click on a service.
• 3. Select an action from the pop-up menu to perform against the service. See Server, Scheduler, Agent, GUI, Device for information about the actions you can perform against each of the services.
