Configuration Utility: Services page

Use this page to show the status and provide common configuration tasks for the Data server, Device server, Data agents, CIM agents, in-band Fabric agents, and out-of-band agents.

There are several sections on this page. You can expand or collapse any section by clicking the + or - icon to the left of each section heading. When a section is collapsed, you will see the section heading with a status or status summary.

The top buttons are:
Refresh
Updates the contents of the Configuration Utility.
These are the sections for the Services page:
Data Server
This section displays the properties of the Data server.
Fields
Server
Data server host name.
Port
Port number on which the Data server is listening for requests by agents.
State
Data server status. The status can be:
  • Up
  • Down
  • Upgrading agent software
Start Time
Time stamp of the last time the Data server started.
Database
JDBC URL of the database repository used by the Data server. The Data server uses the JDBC file to connect to the database repository.
Buttons
Show Data Server Details
Displays information about the Data server. Links to Administrative Services > Services > Data Server > Server details panel.
Device Server
This section displays the properties of the Device server.
Fields
Server
Device server host name.
Port
Port number on which the Device server is listening for requests by agents.
State
Device server status. The status can be:
  • Up
  • Down
  • Upgrading agent software
Start Time
Time stamp of the last time the Device server started.
Database
JDBC URL of the database repository used by the Device server. The Device server uses the JDBC file to connect to the database repository.

Show Device Server Details
Displays information about the Device server. Links to Administrative Services > Services > Device Server > Device Server details panel.
Data Agents
This section displays the properties of the Data agents and lets you start a Data agent if it is not running.
Fields
Agent
Host name of the machine on which the agent is installed.
IP Address
IP address of the machine on which the agent is running.
State
Agent status. The status can be:
  • Up
  • Down
  • Upgrading agent software
  • Need to upgrade agent software
  • Defected
  • Unreachable
Manufacturer
Manufacturer of the machine on which the agent is running.
CPU Architecture
CPU architecture of the machine on which the agent is running.
OS Type
Operating system of the machine on which the agent is running.
Buttons
Show Data Agents Details
Displays information about the selected Data agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Data details panel.
Check
Checks the Data agent status when you select an agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Data > Check.
Enable
Starts the selected agent if the agent is not running. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Data > Enable.
CIM Agents
This section displays the properties of the CIM agents.
Fields
Service URL
The service URL of the CIM agent containing the IP address of the CIM agent, the port on which the CIM agent is listening, and the protocol used for communication. This URL contains the following information:
  • Protocol (http or https)
  • An IP or host name
  • A port number
An example is:

Connection Status
Connection status of the CIM agent. The status can be:
  • SUCCESS
  • Unreachable
Interoperability Namespace
Interoperability namespace for the CIM agent. This namespace for the CIM agent allows for accessing the CIM Interop Schema (including the class instances of the Server Profile) and determines how Aperi interacts with the CIM agent when retrieving information.
Display Name
The name of the CIM agent.
Description
Description of the CIM agent.
Buttons
Add
Allows you to add a CIM agent. This opens the Add CIMOM panel so you can add a CIM agent. Click Save to save the information. Click Refresh after you have added a CIM agent so you will have the most current information about the CIM agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > CIMOM > Add CIMOM.
Edit CIMOM Details
Opens the Edit CIMOM panel when you select an agent so you can edit CIM agent information. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > CIMOM > <cimom_panel_for_agent_you_specified>.
Test CIMOM Connection
Test the CIMOM connection for the selected CIM agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > CIMOM > <cimom_panel_for_agent_you_specified>.
Run CIMOM Discovery Now
Creates a CIMOM discovery job using all of the defined CIM agents and does not scan the local subnet. The job is run immediately. When you run the job, a pop-up window prompts you for the job name. Enter a job name and click OK. A pop-up window informs you that the job has been submitted. Click OK. The results are displayed when the job has completed. Links to Administrative Services > Discovery > CIMOM > Run Now.
Show Managed Devices
Displays the managed devices (storage subsystems, switches or tape libraries) managed by the CIM agent in a pop-up dialog box. Click OK.
Inband Fabric Agents
This section displays the properties of the in-band Fabric agents.
Fields
Agent
Host name of the machine on which the agent is installed.
IP Address
IP address of the machine on which the agent is running.
State
Agent status. The status can be:
  • Active
  • Inactive
  • Unknown
OS and Version
Operating system of the agent machine.
Buttons
Show Inband Fabric Agent Details
Displays information about the Fabric agent when you select an agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Inband Fabric > Agent details panel.
Check
Checks the in-band Fabric agent status when you select an agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Inband Fabric > Check.
Out of Band Fabric Agents
This section displays the properties of the out-of-band Fabric agents.
Fields
Host Name
Host name of the machine on which the agent is installed.
IP Address
IP address of the machine on which the agent is running.
State
Agent status. The status can be:
  • Normal
  • Missing
SNMP Community
The name of the SNMP community to which the agent belongs. The SNMP community name acts as a password that is shared by one or more SNMP hosts. The community name is used to authenticate messages being received by this SNMP host.
Note: The default SNMP community name is public. If this is not the correct community name for your environment, the out-of-band agent might not be able to properly run scan jobs.
Buttons
Add
Allows you to add an out-of-band Fabric agent. Open the Add Out of Band Fabric Agent panel to add an out-of-band Fabric agent. Make your changes and click OK. Run a Refresh operation after you have added the agent so that you will have the most current information about the agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Out of Band Fabric > Add.
Edit Out of Band Fabric Agent Details
Displays the Edit Out of Band Fabric panel so you can edit the information when you select an agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Out of Band Fabric > <cimom_panel_for_agent_you_specified>.
Check
Checks the out-of-band Fabric agent status when you select an agent. Links to Administrative Services > Agents > Out of Band Fabric > Check.
Run Out of Band Discovery Now
Run an out-of-band agent discovery job immediately. This will discover all currently added out-of-band Fabric agents. A pop-up window informs you that the job has been submitted. Click OK. The results are displayed when the job is completed. Links to Administrative Services > Discovery > Out of Band Fabric > Run Now.
