Pings - Computer window

Use the Computer tab to select what computers to run a ping job.

Available

Displays the computers, computer groups, and clusters that are available for selection.

You can include individual computers or computer groups that have been predefined using the Groups facility.

Note: A cluster name is displayed next to individual computers that are members of an MSCS cluster. Virtual servers are identified with a special icon. Clusters displayed in the Available field cannot be expanded to show member nodes. You can move a cluster to the Current Selections field to view and, if necessary, exclude member nodes.

Current Selections

Displays the computers, computer groups, and clusters that have been selected for the job.

To select a computer or group:

  1. Highlight the desired computer, computer group, or cluster in the Available list box.
  2. Click [Right arrow button]. The computer, computer group, or cluster you selected appears in the Current Selections list box.

To remove or unselect a computer or group:

  1. Highlight the computer, computer group, or cluster you want to remove in the Current Selections list box.
  2. Click [Left arrow button]. This will remove the computer, computer group, or cluster you selected from the Current Selections list box and move it to the Available list box.

To exclude one or more computers from a selected group:

If you want to exclude specific computers in a computer group or cluster that you included in a job, perform the following steps.

  1. Double-click the group name in the Current Selections list box.
  2. Right-click on the computer(s) that you want to exclude. A pop-up menu appears.
  3. Select Exclude. This will create an Excludes section in the Current Selections list box that displays the names of the computers that you have chosen to exclude from the Ping job.
