System Wide - Storage Subsystems

System wide storage subsystem reports provide detailed information about the monitored storage subsystems in your environment. Select [Magnifying glass button] beside the name of the storage subsystem for which you want to view detailed information.

You can generate and sort the data within storage subsystem reports using the following By Clauses:

Each row in the report gives you information for each storage subsystem. The following table describe the fields available through each of the By Clauses:

Disk Capacity

total raw disk space in the storage subsystem

Disk Unallocated Space

Total unformatted disk freespace of the storage subsystem

For Hitachi Data Systems storage subsystems, internal disk information is not available. This field will be 0.

Number of Disks

total number of disks in the storage subsystem

Number of LUNs

total number of LUNs defined in storage subsystem

Note: not all are necessarily accessible

LUN Capacity

total LUN capacity of storage subsystem including inaccessible LUNs

Usable LUN Capacity

storage capacity of LUNs in the storage subsystem (not including BCVs, VCM database, and Replication targets). Includes inaccessible LUNs. (EMC only)

Note: for IBM ESS, IBM DSxxxx, HP StorageWorks, and Hitachi Data Systems storage subsystems, this column is the same as LUN Capacity.

LUN Capacity Visible to Data Manager Capacity of all LUNs visible to Data Manager agents
LUN Capacity not Visible to Data Manager Usable LUN capacity minus assigned LUN capacity
Overhead storage space used by mirroring or RAID (amount of capacity that is dedicated to redundancy)
Formatted Capacity (IBM ESS, IBM DSxxxx, HP StorageWorks, and Hitachi Data Systems only) total amount of formatted storage space in the storage pools associated with the storage subsystem. For example, a RAID volume space has more capacity than a stripe-mirror volume space.
Formatted Space with No Volumes (IBM ESS, IBM DSxxxx, HP StorageWorks, and Hitachi Data Systems only) amount of storage space available to allocate to LUNs in the storage pools associated with the storage subsystem.

Assigned LUN Capacity

storage capacity of LUNs in the array that are visible to computers where Data Manager agents are installed

Unassigned LUN Capacity

usable LUN capacity assigned to each computer minus the assigned LUN capacity

Total Overhead

(IBM ESS only) sum of all the space in a disk group minus the formatted capacity.

Unformatted Disk Group Capacity

raw disk space in ranks on which no volume space has been defined

Cache

amount of RAM or other cache for a storage subsystem

Manufacturer

manufacturer of a storage subsystem

Model

model of a storage subsystem

Serial Number

serial number of a storage subsystem

Firmware Revision

microcode (OS) level

Subsystem Assigned LUN Capacity total storage capacity of all LUNs that the storage subsystem knows are assigned to a host computer
Storage Subsystem Unassigned LUN Capacity

total storage capacity of all LUNs that the storage subsystem knows are not assigned to a host computer

Note: the column will appear blank for San Volume Controller (SVC)

Subsystem Total Formatted Free Space

Storage Subsystem Unassigned LUN Capacity + Formatted Space with No Volumes (i.e., formatted capacity in the storage subsystem that is not allocated to a LUN and is not assigned to a host computer)

Note: this column will appear blank for San Volume Controller (SVC).

zOS Lun Capacity total storage capacity for all the LUNs allocated to zOS. Data for this column is calculated for ESS only--the value for this column is set to 'N/A' for other storage subsystems.
Open System LUN Capacity total LUN storage capacity (excluding the zOS LUN capacity)
