Ping reporting allows you to monitor how available your storage server is on the network. To do this, regularly scheduled pings are sent out from the server to all of the monitored agent machines in your environment. The server checks not only for whether the agent is available on the network, but records the amount of time that the request was in transit on the network. This allows you to get an idea of the responsiveness of the various storage servers on the network.
