This topic contains conceptual information about alerts. It also
describes how to create and edit a storage-subsystem alert.
What is an alert?
Alerting enables you to automatically take action when a specified condition
occurs on a storage subsystem. An alert specifies both the triggering condition
and the action that the product takes when the condition occurs.
Creating an alert
To create an alert, complete the
following steps:
- Expand the Disk Manager > Alerting node.
- Right-click Storage Subsystem Alerts and click Create Storage
Subsystem Alert. In the right pane, the Create Storage Subsystem Alert
window is displayed.
- In the Description field, type a short description of the alert.
- Click Alert; the Alert page opens. Select the triggering condition
and the actions that occur in response to the triggering condition. For more

- Click Storage Subsystems; the Storage Subsystems page opens. Select
the storage subsystems to which you want to apply the alert. For more information,
see Alerting: Storage
Subsystems page.
- Click File > Save.
Editing an alert
To edit an alert, complete the following
steps:
- Expand the Disk Manager > Alerting > Storage Subsystem Alerts node.
- Right-click the alert that you want to modify and click Edit Storage
Subsystem Alert. In the right pane, the Edit Storage Subsystem Alert window
is displayed.
- Click Alert; the Alert page opens. Make any necessary modifications.
