Use this page to define the volume characteristics.
- RAID level
- Select one of the following RAID levels, based on the type of storage
subsystem:
- DS6000 and DS8000:
RAID 5, RAID 10, or Mixed. RAID 5 is the default setting.
- ESS: RAID 5 or RAID
10. RAID 5 is the default setting.
- FAStT/DS4xxxx: RAID 0, RAID
1, RAID 3, or RAID 5. RAID 0 is the default setting.
- Available arrays
- Select an array from the list of arrays with the specified RAID level.
These arrays are identified using the following convention:
<Device-specific array name> (<free space> GB)
For ESS 2105 subsystems, only
arrays with fixed-block (FB) tracks are listed
- Available extent pools
- Select an extent pool from the list of extent pools with the specified
RAID level. This only is displayed if the subsystem is DS6000 or DS8000.
- Number of volumes
- Select the number of volumes to be created. For an ESS subsystem, the
maximum is 255. By default, this is set to 1.
- Volume size
- Select the size of the volumes to be created. The maximum and minimum
size depends on the type of storage subsystem.
- Units
- Select one of the following units of measure for the size of the volume:
