Fabric Alerts page

Use the Create Fabric Alerts page to create and manage alerts for fabrics, zones, ports, and connections. The Create Fabric Alerts page has two pages:

Alerts

Allows you to set alert triggering conditions and triggered actions for the alert.

Fabrics

Allows you to select the fabrics to include in your alert.

Triggering conditions

You can specify the following conditions for triggering a fabric alert:

Fabric Discovered
A fabric was discovered.
Fabric State Change
Change to the state of the fabric.
Fabric Status Change Offline
Change to the status of the fabric.
Fabric Status Change Online
Change to the status of the fabric.
Connection Status Change Offline
Change to the connection status of the fabric.
Connection Status Change Online
Change to the connection status of the fabric.
Zone State Change
Change to the state of the zone.
Zone Discovered
A zone was discovered.
Zone set Zone Change
A zone was changed in the specified zone set.
Zone set Discovered
A zone set was discovered.
Zone to Zone Alias Change
A zone alias was changed.
Zone to Zone Member Change
A zone member was changed.
New Connection
A new connection was detected.
Connection State Change
Change to the state of the connection.

Field Descriptions

Field Name

Description

Creator

Displays the creator of the alert job.

Name

Displays the name of the alert job you are editing.

Description

Specify a description for the alert job you are editing.

Enabled

Select this option to enable the job you have created.

Triggered Actions

Field Name

Description

SNMP Trap

Check this box to generate an SNMP trap message to any NMS, console, or terminal to indicate the occurrence of an alert.

Login Notification

Check this box to indicate that alerts should appear to the specified user upon logging in to the system.

Login ID

Indicate the ID of the user who will receive alert notifications upon logging in to the system.

Windows Event Log, Unix Syslog (UNIX)

Check this box to indicate that alerts will be recorded to the OS Event Log.

Event Type (Windows Event Log only)

Indicate the type of event that will be recorded to the Windows Event Log.

Facility (UNIX Syslog only)

Select where the UNIX Syslog will be sent. You can select User or Local.

Level (UNIX Syslog only)

Select the level of UNIX Syslog event. You can select Informational, Notice, Warning, Error, Critical, or Alert.

Run Scripts

Check this box to run a script in response to the triggering condition for the alert. Press Define. The Specify Script dialog box appears, enabling you to specify a script to run and the computer on which to run.

Email

Check this box to indicate that alert notifications will be sent via email to the specified email addresses. When you check this box, the following fields become active.

Email Recipients

Use this section to view, add, and delete email addresses for the alert notification. Use the top box in the section to enter the email addresses you want to include for the alert notification. The bottom box displays the email addresses already associated with the alert notification.

Add

Click this button to add an email address you enter in the Email Recipients field.

Del

Click this button to delete the email address you highlight in the Email Recipients list box.

Edit Email

Click this button to edit the text of the email alert notification on the Edit Text of the Email Message. See the Edit Text of the Email Message topic for information about this window.
