Switch alerts allow you to set alert specifications that help you track changes to SAN switches. Click the Alert page on the Create Switch Alerts page to specify the conditions for triggering a specific alert, and the actions that will be taken when that alert is triggered.
You can specify the following conditions for triggering a switch alert:
Changes to the state of the switch.
Changes to one or more of the properties of the switch device.
The status of the switch has changed to Offline.
The status of the switch has changed to Online.
The version of the switch has changed.
A blade in the switch has changed.
A blade in the switch has changed to Offline.
A blade in the switch has changed to Online.

Creator |
Displays the creator of the alert job. |

Name |
Displays the name of the alert job you are editing. The default is unnamed. When you save the alert job, you will be prompted for a new name. |

Description |
Specify a description for the alert job you are editing. |

Select this option to enable the job. |

SNMP Trap |
Check this box to generate an SNMP trap message to any NMS, console, or terminal to indicate the occurrence of an alert. |

Login Notification |
Check this box to indicate that alerts should appear to the specified user upon logging in to the system. |

Login ID |
Indicate the ID of the user who will receive alert notifications upon logging in to the system. |

Windows Event Log, Unix Syslog (UNIX) |
Check this box to indicate that alerts will be recorded to the OS Event Log. |

Event Type (Windows Event Log only) |
Indicate the type of event that will be recorded to the Windows Event Log. |
|
Facility (UNIX Syslog only) |
Select where the UNIX Syslog will be sent. You can select User or Local. |
|
Level (UNIX Syslog only) |
Select the level of UNIX Syslog event. You can select Informational, Notice, Warning, Error, Critical, or Alert. |

Run Scripts |
Check this box to run a script in response to the triggering condition for the alert. Press Define. The Specify Script dialog box appears, enabling you to specify a script to run and the computer on which to run. |

Check this box to indicate that alert notifications will be sent via email to the specified email addresses. When you check this box, the following fields become active. |

Email Recipients |
Use this section to view, add, and delete email addresses for the alert notification. Use the top box in the section to enter the email addresses you want to include for the alert notification. The bottom box displays the email addresses already associated with the alert notification. |

Add |
Click this button to add an email address you enter in the Email Recipients field. |
|
Del |
Click this button to delete the email address you highlight in the Email Recipients list box. |

Edit Email |
Click this button to edit the text of the email alert notification on the Edit Text of the Email Message. See the Edit Text of the Email Message topic for information about this window. |
