Fabric Manager Overview

Fabric Manager provides the following capabilities:

• Zone control: create and manage zones and zone sets
• Monitor fabric groups
• Create and manage fabric, switch, and endpoint alerts
• Generate standard reports for fabric assets

Aperi Storage Manager uses industry standard inband and out of band protocols to discover your network. The discovered topology is stored in a common database and is presented in a number of different views. Fabric Manager provides a common launch mechanism for the various interconnect elements and devices that come with their own management applications. This element manager provides capabilities for configuring, controlling, and monitoring the activity of the associated device.

The fabric discovery provides a database of configuration information across the SAN fabrics and is displayed in the topology viewer window. Discovery is done through a combination of:

• CIMOM discovery
• inband discovery through the SAN fabric
• out of band discovery using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) capabilities through TCP/IP.
