Zone and ZoneSet Naming Restrictions

Use the following guidelines when naming zones and zone sets. Valid characters for zone and zone set names vary depending on the type of device: Default, McData, or Other.

Default

• Maximum character length for name: 54
• Types of characters allowed: A-Z and a-z; _ (underscores)
• Name can begin with a numeral: No
• Spaces are never allowed in zone and zone set names

McData

• Maximum character length for name: 64
• Types of characters allowed: A-Z and a-z and $, -, and _
• Name can begin with a numeral: No

Other

• Maximum character length for name: 64
• Types of characters allowed: A-Z and a-z and $, -, and _
• Name can begin with a numeral: No
