Learning the basics

SMF-IF windows are described in the following helps.

• Overview of SML-IF tooling plug-in
  This section describes the contents of the following SML-IF tooling plug-in windows. To view a specific window, select one of the tabs located at the bottom of the editor.
• Exporting SML model units into an SML-IF document
  The export operation creates an SML-IF document from a repository.
• Importing an SML-IF document to the workspace repository
  Import operation divides an SML-IF document into individual separate SML model documents and stores them in a desired target repository.
• Editing an SML-IF document
  To open the SML-IF editor, double-click an SMl-IF document in the workspace. The SML-IF editor automatically opens.
• Validating an SML-IF document
  Validation is the process of verifying that all documents in a model are valid with respect to this special subset. The key contribution of SML to validation lies in its handling of inter-document constraints, which can and should be layered on top of the single-document validation of XML Schema or other schema languages.
• Validation passed
  Validation Passed message dialog appears to notify you that the document is valid and well formed.
• Navigating and fixing a problem
  If you have a validation problem, the errors are displayed in the Problems view window.
