Using Solution Deployment Descriptor (SDD)

This topic lists at a high level the steps needed to use the tooling surrounding SDD to produce SDDs and to use the runtime to complete an SDD based Installation.

We will divide the information into the following subcategories.

• Setting up your development environment and running the Build Time Generator (BTG)
• Setting up your development environment and initiating the SDD runtime
• Adding or extending resource and operation handlers

These examples will be based primarily on hand-written SDDs, although plugins can be written for the BTG in order to generate SDDs from scratch. As for the example installation, we will rely on a simple SDD designed to describe COSMOS itself.
