Installation

To use the IP‑XACT editor, you will need the following software components installed:

·         A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) at release 1.5.0 or later

·         The Eclipse Platform version 3.2 or later

·         The Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) Plugins version 1.5.1 or later

·         The Plugins that comprise the IP‑XACT editor

Optional for editor, but required for the Feature Tour section of this document:

·         The SPIRIT Consortium’s Public Release Documentation

·         The SPIRIT Consortium’s Leon2 example

Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

The IP‑XACT editor will not load with a version of JRE less than 1.5.0.  If you already have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed, you should check that its version is at release 1.5.0 or later.  To do this, type

java –version

at a command prompt, and the current version will be reported.

If you need to install a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), go to the Sun Java site at http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and follow the instructions there to install a JRE suitable for your platform.

Eclipse Platform and Web Tools Platform

The IP‑XACT editor requires the Eclipse Platform version 3.2 or later with Web Tools Platform Plugins version 1.5.0 or later.  Both of these components can be installed as a single bundle.

·         Go to the site http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R1.5/R-1.5.1-200609230508/

·         Locate on this page the WebTools Platform; All-in-one bundle for your platform

·         Download and extract the zip file into a suitable location on your system

IP‑XACT Editor Plugins

·         Extract the supplied zip file containing the IP‑XACT editor to a directory on your system

·         Read the extracted text file README for additional information on this release

·         Copy the supplied IP‑XACT editor Plugins (these are jar files) from the extracted plugins directory to the plugins directory of the Eclipse Platform you installed in the Eclipse Platform and Web Tools Platform section.

The SPIRIT Consortium’s Public Release Documentation

It is strongly suggested that you download the SPIRIT Consortium’s Public Release Documentation for the SPIRIT IP‑XACT version 1.2 release.  This is available from http://www.spiritconsortium.org/tech/docs/.  The file you require is IP‑XACT_V1.2_Public_release.zip.

The SPIRIT Consortium’s Leon2 example

This example is provided in the IP‑XACT_V1.2_Public_release.zip that you can download from the SPIRIT Consortium’s web site.  (See The SPIRIT Consortium’s Public Release Documentation).
