Publishing Method Content: Publish a Configuration

The goal of this exercise is to publish the configuration that we created in an earlier exercise.

  1. Switch to the Authoring perspective if you are not already using it. authoring bugtton

  3. Use the configuration selection menu in the main tool bar to select My Basic Configuration if it is not already selected.

  5. In the library view panel, open the Configurations folder and double-click on My Basic Configuration. The configuration editor will appear in the right-hand panel.

     

    The Plug-in and Package Selection tab shows the plug-ins and packages within each plug-in that are included in the configuration. The plug-ins and packages in the configuration can be adjusted by selecting and deselecting them in the tree display.

  7. Expand the Custom Categories node in the Configuration view and locate the views associated with this configuration. Make sure you know how the published site will be laid out.

  9. Select the Views tab at the bottom of the configuration editor panel.

  11. Select Default view.

  13. One of the views can be selected as the Default View by selecting the View and clicking the Make Default button. The view selected here will be the displayed on top of all others when configuration is published as a web site.

  15. Close the Configuration Editor. You will be prompted to save your changes if you've made any.

  17. Use the Configuration menu in the main tool bar and select Publish.

  19. Step through Publish wizard accepting the defaults and publish the configuration. It will take a few minutes to generate the web site. When the generation is complete the web browser applet will launch which allows you to view the resulting published web site. Accept the security warnings when the browser launches.

Note: The published web site will have a richer organization and lay-out compared to the more simple view of content provided by the Configuration View.
