Adding a plug-in under ClearCase version control

This procedure applies only to environments where method libraries are version-controlled by Rational© ClearCase.
  1. Make sure you are in the Authoring perspective. authoring perspective button
  2. Use File > New > Method Plug-in. The Create a new method plug-in dialog box will appear.
  3. Enter a name and brief description for the new plug-in. Select any existing plug-ins that will be referenced by the new one.
  4. Click Finish. The Checkout resources dialog box will appear.
  5. If the file library.xmi is not already checked-out, an option will appear to check it out.
    1. Make sure the Reserved option is checked.
    2. Click Apply. A small green check-mark will appear next to library.xmi in the dialog box, indicating this file is now checked-out.
  6. In the Add Resources to Source Control dialog box, make sure the new plug-in and plugin.xmi are selected. Click Apply. A small green check-mark should appear next to both of these resources. Click Cancel to dismiss the dialog box.
  7. Switch to the ClearCase perspective.
  8. In the ClearCase Navigator view, right-click on the library folder and select Tools.
    • If you are using ClearCase, select Find Checkouts.
    • If you are using CCRC, select ClearCase search. Search for checked-out resources.
  9. Check-in all files which have been changed.
    • If you are using CCRC, a list of checked-out files should have been generated by the previous step. Select all checked-out elements. Right-click on one of the elements, and use Basic > Check-in.
