Creating a View

Note: It's a good practice to create the view outside of the default workspace.
  1. Use the perspective menu in the upper right-hand corner to switch to the ClearCase perspective.
  2. Click on the icon that looks like a magnifying glass with a plus sign on it. The Create Base ClearCase View dialog box will appear.
  3. Enter the URL of the ClearCase Web server along with your user name and password. Consult your local ClearCase Administrator for this URL. Click Next.
  4. Confirm the view location and accept the default config spec. Click Finish. You will see a message confirming the view was created.
  5. You will be prompted to load the view. Click Yes to continue.
  6. The ClearCase View Configuration dialog box will appear. Select appropriate load rules. Consult your local ClearCase Administrator for details. Click OK to continue.
  7. There are 2 possibilities at this point:
    • If the method library is already on the ClearCase server your view will be populated. You can then switch to the Authoring perspective. Use the File menu to select Open then Method Library.
    • If the method library is not already on the ClearCase server, your view will be empty initially. You can copy a version of the library from some other source into your view area, or you can switch to the Authoring perspective and create an entirely new library in the view area by using File menu to select New then Method Library. After your view is fully populated you can check-in all files, which will copy your library to the server.
