Architecting a new Practice Framework involves prototyping the framework, structuring the core framework elements and detailing the core framework elements. The core framework elements are those elements that are shared across the Practices in the framework. Specifically, the following are the key activities when architecting a new practice framework:

• Depending on the "newness" and/or complexity of the intended practice framework, you may decide to do some simple sketching (Guideline: Sketching a Method) or some actual prototyping using your implementation environment (Guideline: Developing a Method Proof-of-Concept). 
    
• Once you feel comfortable with the scope, general "shape" and technical feasibility of what you are building, it is time to capture the practice framework more formally, including the structuring of the framework core(Guideline: Structuring the Practice Framework Core) and the capturing the key architectural decisions (Guideline: Documenting the Practice Framework Architecture). 
     
• Once the practice framework architecture is established, you can turn your attention to detailing the core method elements (Guideline: Detailing Practice Framework Core).  All detailing work must be performed within the constraints of the practice framework architecture. 

As you develop the practice framework architecture, it is a good idea to periodically publish the framework (Guideline: Publishing a Practice Framework) and review the results (Guideline: Reviewing Methods) to make sure it appears as expected (Guideline: Publishing a Practice Framework).
