When setting up your method authoring environment, it is best to start by thinking about the method that needs to be authored and any constraints on the method. For example, the method being authored may need to exist within the constraints of an existing method library/framework and thus must adhere to the architectural constraints for that library/framework. Such an understanding is important because such information affects the process you will need to use for authoring the method, as well as indicates what existing method elements you will need to have access to in order to complete your authoring activities.

Once you have that understanding, you can turn your attention to the:

• Authoring process: Making sure that you  have access to the process to be followed when authoring the method. For more information, see Guideline: Establishing a Method Authoring Process.
