Viewing log interactions
The sequence diagram views provide a number of actions that can be performed
to easily view log interactions.
To open a sequence diagram log interaction view, follow these steps:
- Select a correlation in the Log Navigator view.
- Right click, then select Open With > Log interactions.
The Sequence Diagram log interactions view opens.
- To identify an event, hover the cursor over it.
The following alternatives can be used when opening the view from a log agent.
- Alternative A
- Select one or more log agents in the Log Navigator view.
- Right click, then select Open with > Log Interactions.
The Select Log Records Correlation Schema dialog box opens.
- Click OK to associate log records by timestamp.
The Sequence Diagram Log thread interactions view opens.
- To identify an event, hover the cursor over it.
- Alternative B
- Select one or more log agents in the Log Navigator view.
- Create a new log correlation.
- Select the newly created correlation.
- Right-click, then select Open With > Log Interactions. The
Sequence Diagram Log interactions view opens.
To view thread interactions among log records, grouped by threads, follow the
procedures listed in Opening log interactions view. In step 2 use Open with > Log Thread interactions
when selecting the view.
For large views where scrolling is required, the overview can be used to navigate to
and from different pages within the sequence diagram.
To open the sequence diagram overview, click on the
button at the right-hand corner of the view. The sequence diagram overview is displayed.

This button is only displayed when scrolling is required.
For views with multiple pages, there are several methods of navigation available.
- Toolbar drop-down menu
From the toolbar drop-down menu, select Navigation. The navigation
menu opens. Select any of the navigation actions.
- Toolbar and drop-down menu buttons
Use the
Go to next page and
Go to previous page icons to navigate from one page to another.
- Pages dialog
- From the toolbar drop-down menu, select Pages. The Sequence Diagram pages opens.
- Type the page number that you want to go to. Click OK. The log interactions
refreshes to the page entered.
For a correlation target that is on another page, you can quickly jump
to the target by following these steps:
- Select the correlation (arrow pointing to a dot).
- Right click. The popup menu opens.. Select Go to target. If there
is only a one-to-one correlation, the view window refreshes and shows the target record.
If there is more than one target, the Select event dialog box opens.

- Select an event from the list. Click OK. The view window refreshes and shows the target event.
For a correlation source that is on another page, you can quickly jump
to the source by following these steps:
- Select the correlation (arrow pointing away from a dot).
- Right click. The popup menu opens.. Select Go to source. If there
is only a one-to-one correlation, the view window refreshes and shows the source record.
If there is more than one source, the Select event dialog box opens.
- Select an event from the list. Click OK. The view window refreshes and shows the source record.
The page size in the views can be adjusted in the preferences. Please see the section
on Customzing page size.
To return the view to the default display size (reset zoom factor),
to zoom in, or to zoom out, use this set of toolbar controls.
