Working with log files

Log files are analyzed using symptom databases to interpret known events and error conditions. The database provides explanations for events and possible recovery steps.

You can import log files either from a local host or a remote host.

The Log and Trace Analyzer provides you the ability to combine several log files into a single unit for analysis, which means that you can:

Follow these steps to analyze log files:

  1. Set up preferences
  2. Prepare the symptom database
  3. Import log files
  4. Filter and sort records
  5. Analyze log files
  6. Correlate pairs of logs (view log interactions or view log thread interactions)
