Limitations of monitoring a WAS V5 Activity log on Linux

 When monitoring a binary activity log on UNIX platforms using the GLA, the user launching the process must have equal or greater privileges than the installer of WebSphere Application Server to allow this file to be copied. Otherwise, running the showlog process throws the following exception:

 com.ibm.ejs.ras.RasException: Exception copying shared log file
