Importing logs from the iSeries

  1. Ensure that the Agent Controller server has been started on the iSeries server, so that it can receive log import requests.
  2. Select File > Import from the menu.
  3. From the list of import source types, select Log File. Click Next.

  4. Add log files to be imported by clicking Add. The Add Log File dialog box opens.
  5. Select the type of log file to add (e.g. WebSphere trace log).
  6. If necessary, add your iSeries hostname to the list of potential targets and press the Add button. This will add your iSeries server name to the supported host list.
  7. Once added, select your hostname from the list and click the Test Connection button. A message should be displayed telling you that the connection is successful.
  8. Click the Details tab and in the Access log file path field, click Browse to specify where the log file exists on the iSeries server (in this example case the trace log /QIBM/UserData/WebASE/ASE5/default/logs/server1/trace.log). Click OK.
  9. Now click Finish. Repeat steps 2-7 to import other logs. You should now see all the selected logs presented in the Profiling and Logging perspective, and can begin analysis of your problem.
