Getting started with the help
Welcome to Mobile Tools for the Java Platform help! Mobile Tools for
the Java Platform (MTJ) is an Eclipse feature, designed for the creation
of Java applications for mobile devices. MTJ enables you to develop, debug
and deploy mobile Java applications to emulators and real devices. With
MTJ, you can create Java ME applications for different manufacturers'
devices, using multiple programming languages. MTJ offers the tools and
wizards for mobile application development, allowing you to focus on code
creation. Also, MTJ can be expanded to include tool-vendor specific functionalities.
The help is divided into 2 sections:
- User Guide
This section is intended for the creators of Java ME applications.
The subjects covered include, for example, tutorials on project management
and tasks on managing mobile SDKs and applications. With the help of this
guide, users learns how to use MTJ as a tool.
- Developer Guide
This section is intended for the tool vendors, who want to design the
tools for creating mobile applications. This guide provides information
on how to extend the MTJ frameworks, creating tool vendor-specific MTJ
tools.
Both guides contain the following sections:
- Concepts
This section provides information on the main concepts of MTJ.
- Tasks
This section provides instructions for MTJ-related tasks.
- Reference
This section provides information on general Eclipse and MTJ-specific
topics, such as the different wizards and dialogs.
