Prerequisites

MTJ is delivered as an Eclipse feature. For MTJ to function properly, there are the following prerequisites for both hardware and software of your computer:

Hardware requirements

The minimum requirements are the same as for a standard Eclipse installation.

Software requirements

For MTJ, you need Windows 2000 or XP and the following 3rd party downloads installed on your computer before the MTJ installation:

Note: The JDK 5.0 installation contains the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 ,which has to be configured in your Eclipse installation as the active JRE in order for MTJ to work properly.

MTJ provides Security and Signing Provider plug-ins that make use of the security tools provided by these packages. For example, Sun’s JREs include a tool called \bin\keytool.exe, which is used by the org.eclipse.mtj.extension.smgmt.sun plug-in to create and manage key stores. If you want to make use of the MTJ security feature, you must have one of these packages installed.

Tip: For most recent updates for MTJ, you can check the MTJ download site at http://download.eclipse.org/dsdp/mtj/downloads/.
