External tools
MTJ is designed to be a tool that can be used with various mobile platforms.
To ensure this, the following external tools can be configured with MTJ:
- General MTJ tooling providers for security management
and signing of MTJ projects include the following 3rd party packages:
- IBM JRE 5.0
- IBM J9
- SUN JRE
MTJ provides Security plug-ins that make use of the security tools provided
by these packages. For example, Sun’s JREs include a tool called \bin\keytool.exe,
which is used by the org.eclipse.mtj.extension.smgmt.sun plug-in to create
and manage key stores. If you want to make use of the MTJ security feature,
you must have one of these packages installed.
- Mobile device platforms and mobile runtimes:
- All mobile SDKs that support UEI (Unified Emulator
Interface)
- Deployment provider
- Nokia PC Suite
You can configure the providers in MTJ preferences.
Note: The security and signing
tools are not provided with MTJ. You are responsible for acquiring them.
For the security and signing tools, consult IBM or SUN. For mobile SDKs
and deployment tools, consult the application's targeted platform provider.
