Configuring Security Manager plug-ins

Before you can generate keys in the MTJ, you have to configure the Security Manager plugins. In MTJ, there are by default three different security manager plug-ins, although more can be added. The default plug-ins are:

The security manager plug-ins are configured in MTJ preferences. To configure the security managers, you need to have the desired security managers stored on .

Note: These keypair generators generate a self-signed RSA X.509v3 certificate key pair in a specified keystore file that is password protected. All private keys in a keystore share the same password of the keystore.

To configure a Security Manager plug-in

Make sure that the Security Manager plug-ins are installed in MTJ and that the corresponding tooling for each plug-in is installed in your computer.

  1. In the file menu, select Window -> Preferences.
    The Preferences window opens.


     

  2. In the Preferences window, in the left-side pane, expand MTJ Preferences and select Security.
    The Security pane opens on the right side.
  3. In the Description field, highlight the desired plug-in and click Edit.
    The Security Management Configuration window opens.
  4. In the Security Management Configuration window, in the Tool location field:

    You are taken back to the Preferences window.
  2. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for all the Security Manager plug-ins that you want to configure.
  3. In the Preferences window, click OK to store the configuration changes and to exit Preferences.

You have now configured the Security Manager plug-ins for MTJ.

Note: Security Manager plug-in is activated/de-activated by checking/un-checking the box next to the desired plug-in in the Security Management Preferences pane in the Preferences window. Only one Security Manager plug-in can be active at a time.
