Prerequisites
MTJ is delivered as an Eclipse feature. For MTJ to function properly,
there are the following prerequisites for both hardware and software of
your computer:
Hardware requirements
The minimum requirements are the same as for a standard Eclipse installation.
Software requirements
For MTJ, you need Windows 2000 or XP and
the following 3rd party downloads installed on your computer before the
MTJ installation:
Note:
The JDK 5.0 installation contains the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0
,which has to be configured in your Eclipse installation as the active
JRE in order for MTJ to work properly.
- Eclipse 3.2 or other products built on top of Eclipse
3.2
The Eclipse SDK version 3.2 is available at http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/.
- Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) version 2.2.x
EMF is an Eclipse project that provides a Java-based framework and
code generation facility for building tools and other applications based
on a structured model. You can get EMF from the Eclipse Foundation at:
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/emf/scripts/downloads.php.
- Signing and key tools, the selection depends on your
target platform:
- IBM WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment (WEME)
keytool and signing tool
- JavaTM
2 Platform Standard Edition (J2ME) Wireless Toolkit signing tool
- IBM JRE 5.0 keytool
- IBM J9 keytool
MTJ provides Security and Signing Provider
plug-ins that make use of the security tools provided by these packages.
For example, Sun’s JREs include a tool called \bin\keytool.exe, which
is used by the org.eclipse.mtj.extension.smgmt.sun plug-in to create and
manage key stores. If you want to make use of the MTJ security feature,
you must have one of these packages installed.
- Nokia PC Suite 6.8 as the deployment tool for mobile
devices
- Mobile Software Development Kits (SDKs) from vendors
Tip: For most recent updates for
MTJ, you can check the MTJ download site at http://download.eclipse.org/dsdp/mtj/downloads/.
