Configuring Signing Provider plug-ins

Before you can sign applications in MTJ, you have to configure the Signing Provider plug-ins. In MTJ, there are by default two different Signing Provider plug-ins, although more can be added. The default plug-ins are:

The Signing Provider plug-ins are located in your workspace for MTJ. They are configured in MTJ preferences.  To configure the Signing Providers, you need the jad signing tools installed in your computer.

Note: These signing tools allow you to sign your applications securely so that the mobile devices accept the application without returning a security dialog about untrusted providers.

To configure a Signing Provider plug-in

  1. In the menu bar, select Window -> Preferences.
    The Preferences window opens.


     

  2. In the Preferences window, in the left-side pane, expand Mobile Tools for the Java Platform and select Signing.
    The Signing pane opens on the right side.
  3. In the Description field, highlight the desired plug-in and click Edit.
    The Signing Provider Configuration window opens.
  4. In the Signing Provider Configuration window, in the Tool location field, do one of the following:
      • Specify the location of the signing tool that is supported by the plug-in you are configuring.
  1. Click OK.
  2. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for all the Signing Provider plug-ins that you want to configure.
  3. In the Preferences window, click OK to store the configuration changes and to exit Preferences.

Note: Signing Provider plug-in is activated by checking the box next to the desired plug-in in the Signing pane in the Preferences window.
