If you verify the port settings and data is not being read, try disconnecting the Global Positioning System (GPS) from the current machine and try connecting it to another machine.
If the GPS works on another machine, consider switching your development and testing to that machine or ask a technician to analyze the original machine for any hidden serial port problems.
If the GPS does not work on several machines, consider having the GPS device examined to ensure that it is operating properly.
