You can abort activities from the general activity execution view or any activity table.
The toolbar in an activity execution view of the
Workflow Execution Perspective provides an abort button

if the following requirements are
fulfilled:

In case you want to abort an existing process instance and start another process, click the down-arrow icon displayed next to the Abort icon and choose Abort Process and Start option from the toolbar. Please refer to the chapter Aborting a Process and Starting a new Instance for detail information.

In case you want to abort an existing process instance and join another process, click the down-arrow icon displayed next to the Abort icon and choose Abort Process and Join option from the toolbar. Please refer to the chapter Aborting and Joining Processes for detail information.

If the following requirements are fulfilled, the abort button is enabled in the toolbar:
To abort activities, select them in the Select part
and click the abort icon
on top of the
Activities table.

In case you want to abort an existing activity instance and start another, click the down-arrow icon displayed next to the Abort Process icon and select Abort Process and Start option from the toolbar. For details refer to chapter Aborting a Process and Starting a new Instance.

To abort multiple activities, press Ctrl and select the processes. Then, click the down-arrow icon displayed next to the Abort Process icon and select the Abort Process and Start option from the toolbar. For details refer to chapter Aborting a Process and Starting a new Instance.
Click the down-arrow icon and select Abort Process and Join option. It allows you to abort the current process and join it to another process.

Per default, when starting an abort action, a dialog opens to ask whether you like to abort the current activity only or entire (Root) process:

Click Cancel in case you like to cancel the abort.
Note
Out data mappings of aborted activity instances will not be evaluated.
The following activity instances using In data mappings from those data
have to be aware that the data values may not be initialized or can
contain incorrect data.
Note that the default case activity cannot be aborted using the Abort Process and Abort Process and Start option. The following error is displayed.

Note that, in case you have administrator rights, you can configure a default abort activity setting and the dialog only ask for abort confirmation. Refer to section Abort Activity of chapter Configuring Workflow Execution for details on how to configure predefined abort settings.
In that case the following dialogs open depending on your configuration:

After closing the abort settings dialog, a notification dialog opens with a list of successfully aborting activity(ies) or to notify in case of a failure.

In case you do not have the permission to abort the according activity
as described in the sections above,
a notification dialog opens to inform that you are not
authorized to abort this activity. The abort action is not performed.
