Resource Availabilities
Availabilities for resources (process participants or applications) specify
how many resources are simultaneously available in a specific
interval.
Specifying Availability Distributions
Availability distributions for resources can be specified by three different
curves in the properties page Simulation > Availability
in the property dialog for participants or applications:

- The Availability specified the total, long-term daily availability
rate. A value of e.g. 10 represents 10 simultaneously available resources. This
way you can specify long-term staff evolution or server configurations for
parallel access of services. The slider value is interpreted as percentage. This means
to get the actual availability value you have to multiply the percentage value divided by
100 with the value displayed in the diagram.
- The Business Calendar specifies whether resources are available
at a specific calendar date. This way you can different availabilities (or
unavailabilities) of individuals on weekends and other holidays as well as
unavailabilities of applications e.g. because of maintenance tasks being performed.
The slider represents the actual value.
- The Daily Distribution describes how resources are available
over the day. Using this parameter you can demarcate e.g. lunch breaks or
regular business hours of employees.
The slider represents the actual value.
Long-term availability, calendar-based availability distribution
and daily distribution are multiplied to obtain the resulting
availability, whereby the calendar-based values and daily distribution are relative
values. The daily distribution is always adjusted to an integral value of 100%.
For details on the modification of the availability curves see
Working With Curves.
Behaviour
You can also specify the efficiency rate in the properties page by selecting Simulation > Behaviour.
