For some columns in Portal tables, a filtering and/or sorting mechanism is provided.

To filter the data displayed in a column,
select the
icon in the table toolbar to open this dialog.

Filters are displayed in the column header cell. In case no filter is set, the column header displays "No filter set."

In case a filter is set, this is indicated in the column header with the filter range displayed.

The following different filtering types are available depending on the column data type:
Section Resetting Filters describes how to reset filters.
String entries can be filtered via the Like mechanism. You can use the asterisk '*' wildcard. Note that the search is case-insensitive.

By default, search is performed for the specified character. If first name and last name are provided then search is performed on both the strings. If only one of the two search strings are specified then search is performed only for that matching string and other field is ignored.

To search for a user, enter the name or a text the name contains in the entry field. As soon as you enter the text, user names matching the pattern are provided in the drop-down list. You can select the user from the list. Note that the search is per default case-sensitive with the exception of the first letter. You can change to case-insensitive search by setting the property Carnot.Client.Search.CaseSensitive in your carnot.properties file to false.

The numeric filter allows filtering between. You can enter a From and a To value. Unspecified upper or lower limit allows defining greater than or less than.

Filtering for dates allows between filtering. You can either enter a From and a To value in the current supported date format (e.g. dd/mm/yy:hh:mm PM), or by using the date picker in the provided calendar.

Similarly, you can filter end time.

To filter activities, you can select the activities from multiple processes. The activities are sorted in alphabetical order.
In the Process box, you have the following options:
In the Activity box you can select a single activity or multiple activities for the filter.

The activity criticality filter can be set using the Like mechanism. You can provide the criticality label in the Select Criticality text box. By default, criticality labels are defined as High , Medium and Low.

To filter processes, you can select the processes from a provided list. The processes are sorted in alphabetical order.

Per default, auxiliary processes are not included in the processes list, which is indicated via the following icon:
. Click this icon to include auxiliary processes.
The following icon is indicating that auxiliary processes are included:
. Click this icon if you like to exclude auxiliary processes again.
A tooltip is provided for process names in the list.

To filter root processes, you can select root processes from a list. The processes are sorted in alphabetical order.

Per default, auxiliary processes are not included in the root processes list, which is indicated via the following
icon:
. Click this icon to include auxiliary processes.
The following icon is indicating that auxiliary processes are included:
. Click this icon if you like to exclude auxiliary processes again.

A special case are the <custom descriptor> columns. Worklists can be filtered on descriptors, if they either contain only activity instances from one process definition or process definitions with descriptors based on the same data. Please note that these columns cannot be filtered on descriptor values, in case the descriptor for all listed process definitions or activities pertaining to process instances is based on different data or attributes.
Filtering for business dates allows between filtering. You can either enter a From and a To value in the current supported date format (e.g. dd/mm/yy:hh:mm PM), or by using the date picker in the provided calendar. For more information about this column, please refer the chapter Viewing Worklist.

To filter status, select one or more status from a list.

Following status are available for filtering:
You can simply remove a filter by clicking the Filter icon again.
The status of the filter will return to No filter set afterwards.
Tables may be sorted by any sortable column by clicking the sort icon
in a column. By default, it is sorted in descending order that is the newest item is always displayed on top.
The sort icon is divided in two triangles. When
you click on the sort icon the triangle is highlighted to indicate the sort.
The table data can be toggled between ascending and
descending order when the sort icon
is clicked.
Note that if you try to sort on Category columns, the row which shows Total counts would be shown as the last row of table and the row which shows Undefined counts would be shown as the second last row of table, regardless of sorting.
If you like to save the filter and ordering settings you perform on a specific table, click the
icon in the toolbar of your table.

All filter and order settings, which you perform on the table, will persist for the current user across Portal sessions.
The filled star icon
indicates that the current filter and order settings will be saved. To disable the save option again, click the filled
star icon.

The empty star icon appears again. Note that once you have disabled the save option and log out, the default settings will be applied in the next user session.
