The Instance Diagram Editor

The Instance Diagram Editor allows you to graphically define an instance of your service contract at a given point of time while the system is running. The Instance Diagram Editor captures the state of different classes in the system and their relationships or associations at a given point of time. Before you can complete this tutorial, you must be familiar with creating a Tigerstripe project including the following:

Creating a Tigerstripe project using the New Tigerstripe Project dialog box.
Documenting your project and adding project descriptors.
Creating a service end-point and a web service definition.
Adding methods and arguments.
Saving and generating your Tigerstripe project.

Note: All changes made to the underlying data model are immediately reflected in any open instance diagrams that contain instances of the changed classes or associations. If an instance diagram is not open when changes are made, the instance diagram will refresh when it is opened to reflect the changes made to the data model since it was last opened.

Creating a new Instance Diagram

Create a new Tigerstripe project.
Right-click on your project, select New and click new Instance Diagram. The New Instance Diagram dialog box opens.

Accept the default file name (default) and click Finish.

Tigerstripe Workbench creates a new instance diagram named default in the top-level project folder. In the Tigerstripe Explorer under that top-level project folder, you will see two new files:

default.owm
default.wod

Note: default is the file name that you created in Step 3. The default.wod file contains the diagram itself, the default.owm contains an XMI model that represents the details of the diagram. These two files combined represent the diagram created using the New Instance Diagram wizard.
